Balloon and Red Tour Timings by Month: Sunrise, Pickup and the Gap Before Your Tour
Balloons launch around sunrise, and sunrise in Cappadocia moves by almost three hours over the year. That, not the tour, decides whether the day works.
How the table works: the balloon morning takes 3–4 hours door to door, according to the operators themselves: about 30 minutes to the launch field, breakfast while the balloons inflate, a flight of about an hour, around 30 minutes for the landing toast and certificate, and the drive back. That puts you at your hotel roughly two hours after sunrise. Sunrise times are for Göreme on the 15th of each month (Turkey stays on UTC+3 all year), and your operator confirms your exact pickup the evening before.
Mornings don't always run to plan. When the aviation authority holds the launch while it checks the wind, a wait of up to an hour at the field isn't unusual, and it pushes everything back by the same amount. In summer that still leaves room; in March, October and the winter months it can make you late for your tour.
